Social Media

Getting into Social Media is like getting into the worlds biggest cocktail party. It’s a lot of fun and you can meet some pretty interesting characters. Take Facebook for example, interesting people and lots of fun (crazy cat videos anyone?)

But have you ever been to party and you end up getting stuck with someone who just keeps talking about themselves? They go on and on about themselves, endlessly ranting, never once asking you a question. What happens to these people? They end up getting ignored, that’s what. And no matter how much they talk, there’s no way you’re ever going to be interested in them. In fact, the more the more they talk the more you ignore them.

The one big thing to keep in mind at this cocktail party is that people are there to socialise. So if you’re going to be on Facebook, remember the 80/20 rule: 80% of your posts should be social (yet still relate to your audience), and 20% of your posts should pertain to your products or services. Some even this that this ratio should be 90/10.

Social Media needs to be just that: Social.
